Did you know the Working Lounge at The Exchange is open to all University of Birmingham staff?

Based inside the big old bank, opposite the Library of Birmingham in Centenary Square, The Exchange is a great space to work, study, stop for a hot drink, visit an exhibition... the list goes on!

You’ll find the Working Lounge on the Ground Floor of The Exchange. You don’t need to pre-book this space; simply bring your University staff ID card with you.

Whether you’re in the city or fancy a change in scenery to your normal office environment, the Working Lounge boasts large desks, booths and two private offices for all your working needs.

The team have pulled together a handy video with an overview of the space and amenities, which include a fridge, microwave, and sink, lockers, Wi-Fi through Eduroam, charging points and a built-in screen in each office.

Most teams at The Exchange work from office spaces on the upper floors. While the Public Engagement Team often operates from the Working Lounge, this area is intended for and accessible to all employees.

Activities at The Exchange

The team run weekly heritage tours that you can join free of charge to get an in-depth tour of the building.

Plus, there is a Food Fellows Cafe offering tasty treats and hot drinks. The cream tea comes highly recommended, rivalling Winterbourne’s.

And finally, the Public Engagement team runs a programme of events and exhibitions throughout the year through The Exchange.
