Birmingham International Academy (BIA) Wellbeing Officers

With the opening up of the University, students are now able to access the BIA Wellbeing Service on campus and online. Students can also continue to access a range of University online resources and support at any time by using the following link.

We are committed to offering a friendly, flexible, confidential and non-judgemental service that actively listens to your concerns. We offer practical advice and support to BIA students experiencing a personal or emotional problem affecting their studies. We may signpost students to specialist support within central Student Services if this is appropriate. The BIA Wellbeing Service sits alongside the academic support offered to students on our Foundation and Presessional courses. We work closely with our EAP Tutors, Programme Administrative Teams and Programme Managers within the BIA as well as a range of University services and departments

We provide advice on a wide range of issues including:

  • Personal or emotional problems or emergencies
  • Health or disability issues
  • Academic extensions and extenuating circumstances
  • Safeguarding under-18s and vulnerable students
  • Attendance and engagement concerns
  • Returning home during term time
  • Leave of absence requests
  • Academic progress and study options
