Easter opening times

While many of you travel away from Birmingham during the vacation period, we know that some of you may choose to stay on or near campus over the Easter period. 

A list of the services available at the University are outlined below including study spaces, support and catering. At the bottom of the page there are also links to local services including shops, banks, public transport and healthcare providers. 

Most University services are closed from Friday 19 April 2019 and will reopen on the morning of Thursday 25 April 2019. Any services that remain open may operate reduced hours during this period.

You will still be able to login to My.Bham to access all of your normal online services throughout the vacation period. 

 Library

The Main Library will be open 24/7. Full library opening information including opening times of the other Library, see library opening hours

 Study Spaces

Westmere PG Research Hub

The Westmere PG Research Hub will be closed Friday 19 April to Monday 22 April and will reopen on Tuesday 23 April. 

 Aston Webb Student Hub

The Aston Webb Student Hub will be open as follows:

During the University closed period, you will be able to submit an online enquiry. These will be responded to swiftly upon our return on Thursday 25 April 2019.

Queries may take longer than during term-time but every effort will be made to respond as quickly as possible.

 International Student Advisory Service (ISAS)

ISAS will be closed from Friday 19 April 2019 and will reopen on Thursday 25 April 2019 at 09:00.

 IT Service Desk

The IT Service Desk will be open as normal up to and including Thursday 18 April 2019, and then will be open as follows over the Easter period:

Each day the IT Service Desk is open you will be able to log a call by phone or online at itservicedesk.bham.ac.uk , or visit the team at the Main Library.

University of Birmingham Sport & Fitness

From 19 April - 24 April 2019 University of Birmingham will operate reduced opening hours of 07:00 - 20:00. For more information please view the Easter opening hours for the Univerity's Sport and Fitness Club.

 Guild of Students

From 30 March - 29 April 2019 The Guild will be open 09:00 - 17:00, except for 19 April - 24 April 2019 where The Guild will be closed. Normal opening hours will resume on 25 April 2019. 

 Living

All accommodation receptions will be open as normal throughout the Easter vacation. The Living office in University Centre will be closed from 17:00 on Thursday 18 April 2019 to Wednesday 24 April 2019. The Living office will reopen at 09:00 on Thursday 25 April 2019.

For out-of-hours assistance in our residences, the Vale Village reception will be open 24/7 as normal. Out-of-hours calls to Selly Oak and Pritchatts Park receptions will be diverted to the Vale reception and a member of staff will be able to attend Selly Oak and Pritchatts Park receptions if necessary.

There is also security who can be contacted by phone 24/7 on 0121 414 3000 for non-emergencies and on 0121 414 4444 in emergencies.

Food and Drink on campus

 Multi - Faith Chaplaincy

The Multi-Faith Chaplaincy at St Francis Hall will be open between 08:00 and 22:00 up until Friday 29 March 2019. Please see below for the opening times over the vacation period:

Healthcare

South Birmingham GP Walk In Centre is open 365 days a year 08:00 - 20:00, no appointment necessary. The telephone number is 0121 415 2095 and the address is 15 Katie Road, Selly Oak, Birmingham, B29 6JG.

The Accident & Emergency department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (next to the Medical School) is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

Service amendments to London Midland trains are available via National Rail.

Local bus amendments are available via National Express West Midlands.

Standard opening hours: 10:00-16:00 Monday, Thursday and Friday

Standard opening hours: 09:30-16:30 Monday-Friday
