Multi Faith Vigil and Service for those affected by the Earthquake in Turkey and Syria
We know that many members of our University community have been affected by the devastating Earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Many of our staff and students have contacted us to offer their support and we know that many of you will have been supporting the many appeals that are operating, including the Disasters Emergency Committee.
The University’s Multi-Faith Chaplaincy, supported by some of our student societies, will be holding a multi-faith service and vigil on Friday the 17 February at 1:00 pm in the Green Heart Amphitheatre – outdoors, opposite the Teaching and Learning building. This is an opportunity for members of our University community to come together to support victims and survivors, their families, the affected communities, those with ties to Turkey and Syria, and the rescue efforts. Everyone is welcome to come together and draw support from each other as we do what we can in in the face of this devastating tragedy.
Countries, charities and individuals are now all working to support the relief effort across the affected regions – and the University is standing in support of our students and staff. All of us in the University community have been shocked and saddened by the terrible loss of life; our thoughts and sympathies are with everyone affected.
