Travelling around the UK
If you'd like to visit other parts of the UK, we recommend travelling by rail or coach. The two main inter-city coach companies in the UK are National Express and Megabus, which often offer cheaper (although usually longer) travel options.
If you've registered with student discounts like UNiDAYS, TOTUM and Student Beans, you can unlock discount codes for tickets too. The nearest coach station to campus is Birmingham Coach Station, a 15-minute walk from Birmingham New Street (Grand Central). Hop on the train from University to be there within half an hour.

Maps and journey planners
To help you get around campus, we recommend using the Campus Map, which you can access from the MyUoB App. You can also download it as an app itself for free from Google Play and the App Store.
If you’re looking to commute by public transport, you can plan your journey by regional train, metro or bus with Network West Midlands’ journey planner. You can also plan your bus ride through the National Express website.
Travelling by train? You’ll find local train information on the West Midlands Railway website and you can plan regional and national rail journeys with National Rail Enquiries.
If you’d prefer to cycle, you’ll love the Cycle Streets planner, which provides you the best cycle route between two locations, gives step-by-step instructions and maps of junctions, and includes photos of key cycling infrastructure along the way.
