A Programme Leaders’ Network in England

The Universities of Birmingham and Warwick, in collaboration with the QAA, are launching a new community of practice for higher education programme leaders in England. The project is led by Marios Hadjianastasis (Higher Education Futures Institute, University of Birmingham) and Letizia Gramaglia (Head of Academic Development & Director of the Warwick International Higher Education Academy WIHEA), with the support of the QAA and Nick Watmough.

The network will consist of an online forum, as well as a series of online events, where programme leaders and those invested in supporting the programme leader role can set and discuss priorities, find opportunities for CPD, access support from colleagues in similar roles and share practice on themes of common interest.

The network will also provide opportunities for PLs to gain external recognition for their work, enhancing sector-wide visibility of PLs and opening space for individual mentoring or coaching relationships to develop.

This endeavour builds on the excellent work on Enhancing Programme Leadership done by colleagues in Scotland, our partnership with the authors of Supporting Course and Programme Leaders in Higher Education (Martha Caddell, Jenny Lawrence, Sue Moron-Garcia and Rowena Senior) and complements the Oxford Brookes series Talking Teaching Across the Globe

Who is this network for?

• All higher education programme leads or directors who have responsibility for undergraduate or postgraduate programmes of study in English institutions.
• Education leaders and change agents in English HE who support programme leadership
