Bike Maintenance Skills 3: Efficient Brakes and Steering

Keeping your bike in good condition is an essential part of getting the best out of cycling, whether for commuting, errands or exercise. This series of courses has been designed to give staff and students at University of Birmingham essential skills and knowledge. The sessions will be led by expert bike mechanics from Gear Up, the campus bike shop. Inclusivity is the watchword: the courses are for everyone. 

The third course will cover keeping the steering smooth and the brakes effective, including:

-        Fixing loose/tight headset

-        Maintaining brakes

-        Adjusting brakes

-        Identifying when brake pads need to be replaced

-        Replacing brake pads

-        Identifying when your bike needs an expert to make it safe to ride

Booking Fee: £4 staff/ £2 students
