I’m Rachel and I am the Institute of Microbiology and Infection cross college operations manager. I joined the Race Equality Network in 2021 as a general member. I feel very passionate about Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and within our Institute we are committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive and safe community for all. I am proud to be a white ally and I provide support and feedback to the Network where I can. I have worked at the University since 2007 in both the Colleges of MDS and LES.

I’m Lorraine and I have been a member of the REN since it started in June 2017. Up until June 2023 I was the Events Officer and I am now General Member on hand to provide support across REN initiatives. Alongside my work with the REN, my day job allows me to contribute to the university’s race equity agenda – I am a Consultant in the People and Organisational Development team and lead on the Aditi Leadership Programme for colleagues from the Global Majority. In August 2023, I will continue to pursue my commitment to making meaningful change for social justice whilst on secondment in two roles across the university. I will work half of my week as a Strategic Improvement Coach in the IMPACT centre in the College of Social Sciences, and the other half as an EDI Project Manager in the Centre for EDI and Wellbeing.

I'm Ethel and I work in Campus Services as part of Business Support Services. I provide direct support to Malene Stanley, the Head of Venues and Events and Mark Lawrence, the Head of Campus Safety and Security. I arrived at the University just ahead of Campus Services’ outstanding delivery of the Commonwealth Games, which was some learning curve! Prior to this role, I was running my small business. I am a General Committee member for the Race Equality Network and I look forward to helping to develop and expand the reach and awareness of the Network among staff, while building relationships with colleagues across the University.
