Cyber Security at Birmingham

The Security and Privacy Group from the School of Computer Science are committed to tackling cyber security problems, with their approach underpinned by a consideration for the critical issues affecting industry, Government and society. Working in collaboration with academia, industry and Government, the Group consistently produces globally recognised research on key issues. This has led to accreditation by GCHQ as an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research. Experts from the University of Birmingham are due to speak on the subject of Cyber Security at a number of national events this Spring.

 

Midlands Cyber Crime Breakfast 2016

Ian Batten, School of Computer Science, will join experts with experience from all sides from the digital war to highlight the dangers in a rapidly evolving battle against cyber-attacks. He will set out the measures to prevent an attack and show you how to handle the aftermath of a security breach.

Cyber Security for ICS

Dr. Tom Chothia, School of Computer Science and Dr. John Easton, Department of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering are scheduled to speak at the Cyber Security for Industrial Control Systems event on 26 – 28 April 2016, a must attend event that unites cyber security professionals with Control Systems managers and SMEs to address the key challenges faced in the market.
