Due Diligence for Research with Global Partners

Increasingly the University is undertaking collaborative research with a range of global partners.  For example, Global Challenges Research Funding (GCRF) is a funding initiative by UK research funders to support research which directly addresses issues in the developing world – in particular the global challenges identified in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Research projects which are funded under GCRF schemes need to meet the Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) requirements.  The UK Research Councils and other funders involved in the GCRF initiative have also prepared further ODA guidance to help explain the requirements.  Information on the range of research at Birmingham in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals can be found here: https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/research/global-goals/index.aspx

The information on this page is intended to help academic staff at Birmingham with understanding the requirements around the due diligence checks that we need to undertake when working with overseas partners.
