Scholarships and stipends

The Finance team processes payments for scholarships and stipends. Your College, School or Department is responsible for submitting the relevant information (or “changes”) for these bursaries, through UFAS (the University Funding Administration System). This information needs to be submitted at least two weeks before the scholarship is due to be paid.

What’s the difference between a scholarship and stipend? 

• A scholarship is a discount to your fees, which is applied to your student account. 
• A stipend is a payment that the University makes directly to your bank account, for the amount your fees are discounted.  

Tuition fee invoices 

Your tuition fee invoice is sent to you as confirmation that you have registered with us for the year; it shows the total amount of the course fee.   

The invoice does not show any bursaries, awards or scholarships. These are handled separately on your account.

The Finance team can only allocate payments once your College or School has submitted the relevant information through UFAS. 

Colleges and Schools aim to respond to queries within two working days (Monday to Friday). At busy times – for example, during exam period – you’ll get an automatic reply from these inboxes, letting you know whether to allow extra time to get a response.
