Loans for tuition fees

Find out what you need to do if you're being funded by Student Finance - as an Undergraduate, or Postgraduate, student.

Undergraduate tuition fee loans

If you’re receiving an Undergraduate (UG) tuition fee loan, you must re-apply for your funding before the start of each academic session.

In your Online Registration, enter your student support number in the personal details section. Student Finance will pay your tuition fee directly to the University.

If you can’t provide your student support number in online registration, contact the Student Data Management team at sdm@contacts.bham.ac.uk. They’ll need your University ID number, and your student support number or financial sponsor details.

You will not receive an updated invoice after your funding has been applied.

If your funding isn’t for the full amount shown on your invoice, you need to arrange payment for the outstanding balance.

Postgraduate tuition fee loans

If you’re receiving a Postgraduate tuition fee loan, you must re-apply for your funding before the start of each academic session.

In Online Registration, enter your student support number in the personal details section. Student Finance will pay your loan to you

If you can't provide your student support number in Online Registration, email your University ID number along with your student support number or financial sponsor details to the Student Data Management team at sdm@contacts.bham.ac.uk

Applying for an instalment plan

You'll need to apply for an instalment plan to split your invoice to match the incoming payments, otherwise you will be chased for payment. Apply to set up a Direct Debit here.
