Loans for tuition fees

Find out what you need to do if you're being funded by Student Finance (Student Finance England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Student Awards Agency Scotland) - as an Undergraduate, or Postgraduate, student.

Undergraduate tuition fee loans

If you’re receiving an Undergraduate (UG) tuition fee loan, you must re-apply for your funding before the start of each academic session.

In Online Registration, if your loan/grant has been approved your student support number (SSN) will be displayed within the "Finance Questions" section. If SSN is not present and your loan/grant has been approved, please contact the Student Data Management team at sdm@contacts.bham.ac.uk. They'll need your University ID number and your student support number. Student Finance will pay your tuition fee directly to the University.

You will not receive an updated invoice after your funding has been applied.

If your funding isn’t for the full amount shown on your invoice, you need to arrange payment for the outstanding balance.

Postgraduate tuition fee loans

If you’re receiving a Postgraduate tuition fee loan, you do not need to apply for your funding before the start of each academic session.

In Online Registration, if your loan has been approved your student support number (SSN) will be displayed within the "Finance Questions" section. If SSN is not present and your loan has been approved, please contact the Student Data Management team at sdm@contacts.bham.ac.uk. They'll need your University ID number and your student support number. Student Finance will pay your loan to you.

Applying for an instalment plan

You'll need to apply for an instalment plan to split your invoice to match the incoming payments, otherwise you will be chased for payment. Set up a Payment Plan.
