EDI Training Courses 

The University of Birmingham is committed to creating an inclusive learning environment for all our students, where discrimination is not tolerated and where all members of the University community can reach their full potential.

The three courses below can be completed via Canvas at your own pace and are designed to provide students with skills to navigate a highly diverse campus, where students have a wide range of views and interests.

Student Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion 

The aim of the course is to equip you with awareness and skills to help you navigate the multi-cultural environment at UoB, and enhance your career. The course has been co-designed by staff and students from a diverse range of backgrounds, drawing on some of the latest academic research. 

Participation on this course contributes towards the Birmingham Award. The award allows students to gain recognition for the opportunities that they undertake outside of their studies.

Participants can complete this course individually, however your Personal Tutors will be on hand for help and guidance.

Lead the Change - Preventing Harassment and Sexual Misconduct

The 'Lead the Change' course is available for all UoB students to complete.  

For undergraduate and postgraduate taught students, you'll find this course on Canvas in the Student Support Development Hub. Under 'Required Training', click on 'Lead the Change' to start.  

The course is split into two modules: 'Creating cultures of consent' and 'Becoming an active bystander' - taking around 20 minutes for each module to complete. 

For postgraduate researchers, you'll find this course on Canvas in the Postgraduate Research Support and Development Hub.
