Birmingham Pride brings together tens of thousands of members of the LGBTQ+ community, friends, allies, and supporters in celebration of LGBTQ+ equality over the weekend of 27 and 28 May.

In 2023, the University of Birmingham community will be marching at the Birmingham Pride Parade and the University’s stall will also be staged at the Village Street Party on the Saturday.

UNIfied at Pride Parade Contingent

Photo of the Unified at Pride walking group at Pride 2022The University of Birmingham partnered with six local institutions to form the sectoral contingent at the Birmingham Pride Parade to demonstrate our joint commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusivity in higher education. After record numbers of over 500 members of the UoB community turned out in 2022, we are calling on all students to take part in one of the UoB parade teams at this year’s pride parade. Our parade team participants will have access to an indoor rest area with bottled water and washroom facilities before the start of the parade. Participants are requested to arrive at the UoB check-in desks between 10:30am to 11:15am on the day.

UoB at the Village Street Party

If you are joining the festivities at the Village Street Party (ticketed area) on Saturday afternoon, why not pop by the UoB stall to say hello to our student and staff volunteers, pick up some UoB branded LGBTQ+ merchandise, or take a short break on our deck chairs.

Birmingham Pride also offers a free community event with live music and a candlelit vigil at the main pride site on Friday 26 May. You can claim your free ticket via the Birmingham Pride website.
