Back by popular demand, the Student Communications Team are inviting all colleagues across the Colleges and Professional Services who have an interest in student communications to join them for a day of interesting talks and group discussions around the theme of 'communicating with our students'.

09.40 2024 Student Comms Survey highlights A whistle stop tour and summary of the findings in the 2024 Student Communications Survey. We will share results of student engagement across the main UoB student channels and dive into preferred channels for receiving College/School comms.

Have Your Say 2024 

Oh no, not another survey…Our national surveys play an important role in improving the quality of education and experiences that students receive. But how can we encourage students to make their voices heard when they’re busy or disengaged? This session will look at how these issues were addressed in this year’s Have Your Say campaign which received high response rates compared to previous years.

Ever wondered why tapping into TikTok can be a game-changer for communicating to students? 

Using students in your content creation process, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, helps us offer an authentic glimpse into student life at Birmingham. Join us for a fun and interactive session, where you'll collaborate with our Student Content Shapers to develop engaging ideas for short TikTok's.

Do our comms meet the needs of ALL our students? - addressing EDI in our comms 

Our communications need to represent our student body in full. This session will explore how we can address gaps in our communications to ensure all our students feel seen and heard. Using created personas we will look to explore our previous campaigns we will reflect on what our students (personas) want from us and where we can make changes to be even more impactful for our diverse student community.

In this session you will hear from our experts in Creative Media about how using the right image for your messaging can speak a thousand words. Plus they will share their top tips for how to capture the perfect image on your mobile devices.
