'Connecting with the Community' - There is strong evidence that indicates that feeling close to, and valued by, other people is a fundamental human need and one that contributes to functioning well in the world.
This session features two inspiring talks:
- Claire Bent, Community Engagement Manager from the University of Birmingham Community Living Team will give a talk on the community initiatives that the university currently has in place, and how staff members can get involved.
- Sparkhill Foodbank, a local institution which is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK will deliver a talk on their work, its impact on the local community, and how members of the public can get involved.
