Unity is a specialist business bank with a difference.
Unity supports SMEs and organisations that share its values in wanting to contribute to positive economic, social and environmental change. We operate throughout the UK, with offices in Birmingham and Manchester.
For over 37 years the bank has worked with organisations and SMEs that share its values and philosophy, offering a full range of banking services including current accounts, savings accounts, and loans.
Independent since December 2015, its purpose is to help create a better society, not just maximise profit. Unity’s focus on its customers, employees, and the communities it serves is what sets it apart and allows it to deliver on the bank’s ‘Double Bottom Line’ strategy through volunteering, education and fundraising.
As we look to grow our reach further, Unity, our people and our customers, are committed to helping to create a better society for all.
Unity is a Real Living Wage employer, a Fair Tax Mark business, a Women In Finance Charter signatory, member of the Banking Standards Board and currently holds the Investors in People Gold standard.

Recruitment process – ensuring our processes are accessible, inclusive to all.
Objectives, outcomes and impact
We have recently supported the Impact Challenge and found the support given by the students invaluable and we were inspired by their passion and energy. We would love to engage with students/graduates further to help us on our journey to help build a better society.
One of the ways we aspire to do that is by supporting employment in our local community - the West Midlands, and ensuring we are a truly accessible and inclusive local employer as we know the benefits a diverse workforce can bring. We are part of the Race at Work Charter, Women in Finance, a Living Wage Employer and Disability Confident Employer and have offered our support to #10000BlackInterns.
However to go beyond these accreditations and charters, we need to know that our day to day recruitment activity, how we advertise, interview etc are really helping us access a diverse pool of candidates and the only way we can do this is by having the insight of people with lived experience.
Length and frequency of meetings
1 hour every 2 weeks or monthly/happy to agree more/less with students depending on what they think we need. Our typical recruitment process would last anything between 4-12 weeks so would be good to have regular check ins perhaps alongside one of those processes.
Happy to run remotely or can be face to face at our offices/the University.
