Research Support Funds

During your research degree you will have access to a range of tailor-made services to support your study, develop your skills and strengthen your career prospects.  There are also dedicated research support funds available to help you to gain new skills, attend conferences and develop new ideas.

 

College of Arts and Law

All postgraduate students within the College are eligible to apply for funding to help with conference expenses or research expenses as part of the Postgraduate Research Support Fund. The funding can cover anything from travel and accommodation to photocopying and books.

The College also runs a Postgraduate Research Development Fund, which is designed to support the development of transferrable skills (e.g. developing interactive web sites, holding exhibitions, publishing journals, organising conferences, workshops, etc.). 

College of Engineering and Physical Sciences

The College is home to numerous Centres for Doctoral Training, which bring together diverse areas of expertise to train engineers and scientists with the skills, knowledge and confidence to tackle today's evolving issues and future challenges.

Students funded through these Centres benefit from technical and transferrable skills training, as well as research support. You can find out more through the website.

College of Life and Environmental Sciences

The combination of outstanding research, training, fieldwork and facilities enables doctoral researchers in the College to engage with the most exciting and pioneering research through to its impact and application to real world challenges. As a result, they learn both transferable and discipline-specific skills giving them the confidence and experience to succeed in a wide range of careers across the globe.

College of Medical and Dental Sciences

The Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Training and Development Team looks after the postgraduate researcher community in the College. They provide specific support and resources for early career researchers and integrated clinical academic training.

The College is made up of four schools, which in turn are home to a number of research centres and groups. These communities provide important networking and development opportunities, enabling doctoral researchers to play an active role in the life and work of the College.
