Introduction to Careers Connect video transcript

Hi, I'm Gideon, I’m currently in my final year studying Sport and Exercise Science and I’m going to show you how to use the Careers Connect system.

Careers Connect is a one-stop-shop where you can access careers advice appointments, book onto career-related events and browse recent job and placement opportunities.

So, let's begin.

From the Careers Network homepage, scroll down to the bottom and you'll see a link to Careers Connect.

And just login using your University username and password.

On the home page you’ll notice three tabs: events, appointments, and opportunities.

The events section displays all the upcoming careers events.

Click on one you would like to attend and book your place.

If you can’t make it, remember to cancel your booking from the confirmation email so

that someone else can attend in your place.

There are some events, like this one that you can just show up to.

You can book appointments here.

Before you book, consider these services because they might offer a solution without the need for an appointment.

Once you’ve done that, you can select an appointment to book if required.

There are different types so choose the right one for you.

As well as from the confirmation email, you can also cancel from the homepage.

Bear in mind that appointments are only available 7 days in advance and at peak periods, such as early in the autumn and spring terms, appointments can book up quite quickly.

Each week hundreds of new jobs and placements are listed.

You can filter different opportunities by field of interest and a wide range of other measures.

If you want to receive personalized notification alerts for opportunities, go to the profile tab update profile and set your preferences.

I hope this has helped you get the most out of these services and for further support and guidance, contact us here at Careers Network.
