As a student commuting to university by bike, our founder Josh became fed up with lugging around heavy D-locks and cables just to secure his bike. He never had enough room in his bag for the locks and cables. His friend had his bike wheel stolen after not locking his bike properly, this was the final straw. Determined to find a better way, he began experimenting in his backyard to design a more convenient solution. From those early prototypes, the RB Stand was born. Since then, the idea has gained real traction. The RB Stand reached the final of the University of Birmingham's Inter-Campus Enterprise Competition, and through continued development, a full business model has emerged. To make the stands free to install, a key part of accelerating adoption, we introduced RB Marketing, which generates revenue by placing advertising on or near each stand.
What started as a personal frustration is now evolving into a scalable solution for urban bike security.
