Streamlining martial arts matchmaking and event management with smart automation — faster fights, fewer missed opportunitiesLumumba Djuma Assumani

Founder(s) name: Lumumba Djuma Assumani

Industry Sector: Sports, Software, Event Management

Fightlinx is a digital platform transforming how martial arts events are organised and fights are matched. Many clubs still manage matchmaking manually, leading to wasted time, unfair matchups, and lost revenue. Fightlinx connects fighters, clubs, and promoters in one seamless platform that automates communication and simplifies event coordination. Our mission is to modernise the fight industry through innovation and data-driven tools, with a vision to become the UK’s leading martial arts event platform.

Our Story

Lumumba Assumani is the Founder and CEO of Fightlinx. He is a Master’s student in Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. Lumumba previously completed a placement year at Unilever as an R&D Process Engineer, where he worked on scaling up processes for consumer products. He also undertook a one-month Leadership Programme in Hong Kong facilitated by Common Purpose, which strengthened his global perspective and leadership skills.

As founder, Lumumba’s goal is to drive the vision of Fightlinx to innovate and reshape an outdated industry through technology and to create meaningful opportunities for fighters, clubs, and promoters within the martial arts community.

Fightlinx was created to solve a problem we experienced firsthand. While preparing for a university interclub, we saw fighters miss opportunities because matchmaking was slow, unstructured, and relied heavily on personal connections. Clubs struggled to replace dropouts, often losing revenue and disappointing fighters who had trained for months.

From this challenge came the idea for Fightlinx, a platform designed to bring structure, speed, and fairness to martial arts matchmaking. What began as a simple solution for local events has evolved into a broader mission to connect fighters, clubs, and promoters across the UK through technology that simplifies event management and makes the process more transparent and efficient.

Next Phase

We are currently developing our minimum viable product (MVP) and preparing for our first pilot phase. Testing will begin with Domin8 Gym, one of Birmingham’s largest Muay Thai clubs and promoters, and the University of Birmingham Muay Thai Society. These pilots will allow us to gather real-world feedback, refine the matchmaking algorithm, and validate the impact of automation tools on communication and scheduling.

This phase will also lay the groundwork for national expansion, with plans to onboard additional gyms and promoters across the UK’s Muay Thai, kickboxing, and MMA communities.

Get Involved

Over thirty clubs and fighters have already joined our early access list, showing strong early traction and community interest. We would like to raise £30,000 to support the next stage of development. This investment will go towards building, testing, scaling, and marketing the platform, ensuring we deliver a robust product that meets the needs of the martial arts ecosystem.

We are seeking strategic investors and partners who can help us expand Fightlinx nationally and internationally. Fightlinx is more than a platform. It is a movement to professionalise and modernise combat sports through technology. We invite martial arts clubs, fighters, promoters, and investors to join us in shaping the future of event management in this fast-growing sector.
