Lumumba Assumani is the Founder and CEO of Fightlinx. He is a Master’s student in Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. Lumumba previously completed a placement year at Unilever as an R&D Process Engineer, where he worked on scaling up processes for consumer products. He also undertook a one-month Leadership Programme in Hong Kong facilitated by Common Purpose, which strengthened his global perspective and leadership skills.
As founder, Lumumba’s goal is to drive the vision of Fightlinx to innovate and reshape an outdated industry through technology and to create meaningful opportunities for fighters, clubs, and promoters within the martial arts community.
Fightlinx was created to solve a problem we experienced firsthand. While preparing for a university interclub, we saw fighters miss opportunities because matchmaking was slow, unstructured, and relied heavily on personal connections. Clubs struggled to replace dropouts, often losing revenue and disappointing fighters who had trained for months.
From this challenge came the idea for Fightlinx, a platform designed to bring structure, speed, and fairness to martial arts matchmaking. What began as a simple solution for local events has evolved into a broader mission to connect fighters, clubs, and promoters across the UK through technology that simplifies event management and makes the process more transparent and efficient.
