Introduction - Careers Network Mentoring Scheme
Hi there my name is Victoria Baltag and I'm a University of Birmingham alumni and also a mentor here at Birmingham University. I would like to share with you that I have been working in the industry for over 10 years and I am a Film Director and a Film Producer. So if you want to come along in this industry I have prepared some little tips for you.
Tip number one is to start small. What does it mean this? Well use your phone first if you want to make a short movie, form a team with your friends, ask for help from your family, get the information that is free online. You know everything is possible if you believe in yourself.
Tip number two, be prepared for setbacks, filmmaking it's a tough industry, it's all about taking risks, it's all about being perseverant, it's all about working hard and don't get discouraged.
And of course maybe you are wondering what can I do for you as a mentor? As somebody who worked in the industry I can give you advice on how to start in this industry, how to get inside of the filming network, how to fund your movie, how to get up and running, and because I believe in education, I'm also able to give you advice how to further your education in this field.
